Consecration
The unveiling and consecration of the Great Buddha Statue took place on
November 18, 1989.
The Statue was unveiled by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Most Rev. Hoyo
Sugisaki, President of Daijokyo, Rev. Junkyo Gojo, Chief Abbot of Kinpusenji,
the Most Ven. Chandananda Maha Sangha Nayaka, Sri Lanka and Ven. Wipulasara
Mahathera, General Secretary, Maha Bodhi Society of India.
